水墨畫 [shuǐmòhuà]
수목화 [soo-mok-hwa]

Growing up in China, I was always exposed to Oriental paintings. These were so unlike the Western paintings that I learned through textbooks. The translucent quality of the paper and the varying gradients of color or shades produced through the dilution of ink captivated me. So I was always playing around with brushes and ink lying around the house.

For this personal project, I decided to explore my roots and the theme of connectedness inherent in this medium with another tangible mode of self expression—shapes and forms.
